Summer in Japan by Gloria Zingales

This summer, I'll be building a summer camp entirely from scratch in Japan! GAKKO, an educational camp for Japanese high schoolers, is a bit different from a traditional camp because each year, they fly in university students from around the world to be Sempai or mentors. The camp focuses not only on intellectually inspiring the Kohai (campers) —who often come from a rigid, test-centered education system—but also creating a unique learning environment and warm community where they feel free to connect with others and express themselves. I've never been to Japan (or any Asian country) before so I'm very excited to spend five weeks there this summer!
